Cadenza welcomes the mysterious and evocative El Pocho collective to the label for the group's first ever EP. El Pocho are a newly formed East London posse of musicians, street artists, writers, designers, and film makers who share a common passion for far flung beats and culture. They recently remixed the classic Toto La Moposina track, Adios Fulana, which showed their flair for Afro-Latin beats, swinging percussion, and carnival vocals.

Now their debut EP, 'Introducing', offers two exotic house tracks full of Latin spirit. A Mi Amigo features the vocals of master percussionist, producer, and singer José Mangual Jr., who was the lead vocalist of Willie Colón's orchestra back in the early 1970s. Accompanied by live drums and rolling percussion, the track has a gorgeous, flowing, infectious rhythm to it. It is modern salsa with an electronic dancefloor edge, and José Jr.'s vocals are electrifying and flamboyant. The carnival has arrived!

Second track, Don Quixote, has a darker, sci-fi flavoured South American vibe. With eerie pads and chaotic, relentless drumming, the track has an unstoppable tribal energy. The conga percussion is feverous, the electronic synthesizers are warped, and the... arrangement is wild, almost voodoo like. Don Quixote is a most unusual house track. El Pocho may have a dark side beneath their sombreros, it seems.

Overall El Pocho's 'Introducing' EP is a vibrant and cololurful house two tracker, and the perfect lead-in to their debut full length album due later this year.  more
