MLM Introducing: Simone Liberali - Ritual [MLM003]

Simone Liberali is from a small town near Milan, Italy and has been making music for the last decade. Recording and experimenting, from the bedroom to the booth.

Story behind the release: Luciano and I got in touch via email after I sent him a few promos that he really liked and even played at some of the best events around the world. He asked if I had any new demos available, so I got straight to work and sent him the Ritual EP. He loved it and suggested releasing it on his new label, which he was about to launch: Machaca La Membrana. I happily agreed, grateful for the opportunity.

First place you played ‘Ritual’ live: Not long after finishing the release, I travelled to South America and played it for the first time at Rio in Buenos Aires. The reaction was incredible and the crowd really locked into both tracks, dancing and vibing with the energy from start to finish.

Most memorable Luciano moment: I’ve heard Luciano play many times over the years, from Love Family Park to Ibiza and Cocoricò in Italy, and he has always been one of my main references and inspirations in this scene. I even still have the Vagabundos hat at home in my living room. The most memorable and emotional moment for me was back in 2018, when I was much younger and at the very beginning of my journey. I had the opportunity to play the warm-up for him at Magazzini Generali in Milan. That was the first time we met, and it meant a lot to me.

What’s next: I have two exciting remixes of my tracks ‘Vibration’ and ‘Landslide’. The ‘Vibration’ remix was released on January 16 and was done by Roolèh, a friend and an incredible producer I truly respect who gave the track a fresh new energy that’s perfect for the dance floor. 

For ‘Landslide’, the remix will be announced next year. I can’t reveal the name yet, but I’m really excited about it. At the same time, I’m working on a lot of new music. I feel very inspired right now, so I’m spending a lot of time in the studio writing new tracks for the next year.
