MLM Introducing - Skygroover & Johnny Fontana - Voyager [MLM022]

Skygroover and Johnny Fontana are two Italian DJs and producers from different musical backgrounds, united by a shared vision. Based in Southern Italy, Skygroover draws on influences ranging from classic house and soul to minimal deep tech, while also running his own event projects. Johnny, now based in Switzerland, brings 14 years of experience as a pianist alongside a deep connection to the dance floor. Together, their sound blends refined melodies and driving grooves, moving naturally between house, deep and tech house.

The Inspiration

This EP, which includes 'Voyager' and 'Halbatross', was born very spontaneously from the need to translate our way of experiencing clubbing into music. We worked closely together, paying obsessive attention to the synth sounds and the overall vibes, trying to balance our melodic backgrounds with a powerful rhythmic backbone. The goal from the very first sessions on Logic Pro was to give each track its own identity while maintaining a solid common thread: we wanted to create something highly refined in its details, yet direct, punchy, and fully "floor-ready" at the same time.

The Family

Joining the Machaca family means the world to both of us. It is a label with a very strong identity that represents a sound and a musical culture we deeply recognise ourselves in. Being able to release our music on a label founded by a pillar like Luciano, and sharing this space with artists we highly respect, is a huge milestone for our careers. We are truly proud to be part of it; it's a great confirmation that we are moving in the right direction.

The Future

The coming months will be full of exciting news for both of us on multiple fronts, and we will definitely keep evolving our sound in the studio. Individually, alongside directing his underground event format Nemesi, Skygroover is gearing up for a new release on Reecords scheduled for September 4th, driven by the incredible energy of recent international support, such as Marco Carola playing 'Never Be Alone'. Johnny, on the other hand, has several upcoming collaborations and releases planned on labels like Nervous Records and Flashmob, as well as major gigs like Sunice Festival and the winter edition of Caprices Festival. This is just the beginning, and we still have a lot of music ready to shine on the dancefloor!
