MLM Introducing: Carloh - Secretos [MLM008]
Carloh is a producer from Sangolquí, Ecuador, which he describes as a magical place in the Andes. Raised in a family of DJs, he was immersed in music and parties from an early age. At just nine years old, he discovered music production and audio software, sparking a passion that led him to start experimenting from a very young age.
Story behind the release: Secretos is very special to me, as Luciano is a huge inspiration for DJs all across South America. Everything he has done is a powerful legacy. Fifteen years ago, a track of his called ‘Los Niños de Fuera’ deeply caught my attention. I always saw Luciano as a superhero because I dreamed of doing what he was doing, and that track inspired me to make electronic music. His music was my school. Who would have imagined that after so many years this dream would come true, and now we have this incredible release, along with another track called 'Secretos', where I play a lot with samplers, which is my essence.

First place you heard your release live: I first heard it at Fabrik Madrid. I went to see Luciano, and when he played it, I burst into tears. I'd seen it on social media, in videos people were posting, but experiencing it live was incredible. It took me back many years, to that kid who spent day and night in front of the computer trying to understand electronic music, and it truly awakened my inner child.
Most memorable Luciano moment: When I met him, we were placed in the same dressing room, but when he arrived, everyone was asked to leave. I hid so they wouldn’t kick me out, and then I approached him and said, “I’m Carloh.” He knew who I was because we had made a track together, but we had never met in person. I greeted him and told him how much he meant to me, and he invited me to stay with him while he played. It was incredible: he played our track and the crowd went crazy.

What’s next: I am currently preparing an album with my singer friends, all artists from Ecuador. I have many projects without release dates - some tracks are very good, others not so much. I have a lot of electronic music, soundscapes and concrete music, but it’s very hard for me to fit into the scene because there’s always a pattern everyone follows, and I’m rebellious — I go against the current. I would love to release on Cadenza, and I hope to soon have my most minimalist release.
